Premier Native & Southwest Jewelry - Sept 13th
Lot 301:
Description
A Santo Domingo Pueblo mosaic inlay necklace attributed to Torevia Crespin, composed of two double-strands of small, disc-shaped orange spiny oyster shell heishi beads. The strands terminate in a silver-toned hook-and-eye clasp flanked by two ribbed silver-toned beads. Suspended from the bead strands are five main elements: a larger central pendant shaped like a stylized bird, and four smaller arrow or geometric-shaped pendants, two positioned on each side. These pendants feature a mosaic inlay of precisely cut and fitted pieces of various materials, including prominent blue-green stone (likely turquoise), white nacreous material (likely mother-of-pearl), and other dark and colored stone or shell fragments. The reverse of the pendants is a solid, dark material, likely jet or onyx.
