Description
RARE! Signed Navajo Sterling & 14k Gold ‘Code Talker’ Purple Heart Turquoise Cuff Bracelet | Materials: Sterling, 14k Gold (the feathers/leaves surrounding the purple heart medal), Turquoise, Purple Heart Medal | Weight: 183.6g | Notes: Due to the lack of definitive provenance, we cannot guarantee that the Purple Heart medal in this cuff was awarded to a Navajo Code Talker. However, the medal is authentic, and the cuff is of Navajo origin and signed. We believe it is likely associated with a Navajo Code Talker, but we are unable to confirm this with certainty. Please bid as you feel comfortable. | Background: “The Code Talkers were a group of Native American soldiers who used their native languages to create unbreakable codes during World War I and World War II. Their primary role was to transmit critical military messages that could not be deciphered by enemy forces, significantly contributing to the success of various military campaigns. The most famous group, the Navajo Code Talkers, were instrumental in the Pacific Theater, with their complex language being a key factor in Allied victories. Many Code Talkers endured significant risks while carrying out their vital tasks, with some sustaining injuries in combat. In recognition of their bravery and sacrifices, they were awarded Purple Hearts, symbolizing their courage and dedication. Despite their critical contributions, the full extent of their efforts went largely unrecognized for many years. It wasn’t until later that their role was widely acknowledged”.
